The Bliss Brunch held at Eatonville this past weekend was positively blissful. The host of the event Mrs. Celena Gill was positively radiant and the choice of venue was perfect. The event was full of joy, bliss and a positive energy that could not be matched. The event was small but intimate and had a vibe of unsurmountable hope and positivity that the women gathered here wanted change for their lives and could achieve.
The first speaker was Ms. Kathey Porter, adjunct professor for Virginia Tech, and a woman with a mind for business. She helps small minority businesses find connections and work with Virginia Tech. She is also the owner and founder of FAB which stands for Fearless Awesome Boss, a program that helps minority women become the small business owners they were meant to be. Her story was inspiring and her words touching. Some of the wise words that I took away from her speech was to wake up with the mentality that today could be a lottery day and always plant seeds for tomorrow. Sometimes a lesson is just that, it’s not for you and you have to just get out of your own way. This was inspiring to say the least because when you think about it because sometimes we can be our greatest enemy.
The second speaker for the day was an equally profound speaker, Miss Chekesha Rashad. She is the owner of Chi Squared, which is the energy behind your brand and she has a very productive career in the sports industry. The biggest thing I took away from her speech is that you should always have a notebook and the importance of that is to keep track of your own dreams and things that happen at your meetings. Her speaking was very engaging! She asked a lot of questions that you should answer within yourself and what I found the most inspiring was how she showed the importance of timing in one’s life. This means being in the right place at the right time to make things happen for yourself. The burning question she asked us to ask ourselves was, “Are you willing to do whatever it takes to see your dreams become reality?”
The last speaker of the day was Mrs. Gill and her speech was interactive, enlightening and heartwarming. She gave the audience hand-outs that went along with her presentation. She asked to have a volunteer that was willing to open up to show us her dreams and parts of herself. This part of the day was the most touching, in my opinion, because it required giving attention to the speaker and our own thoughts. From Mrs. Gill sharing her story and interactive nature of her speaking and the atmosphere of Eatonville, this brunch was a delight and an event to keep an eye out for in the future. The venue was wonderfully chosen for an intimate community. It was the perfect space for sharing our thoughts and dreams and it was essential to making the brunch feel even more blissful. I had the opportunity to meet successful entrepreneurs and women with big dreams. This brunch was not only worth the money, but also worth the time as it is an investment in yourself. It was also a pleasure to meet so many inspirational women!
I can’t express enough how excited I am to see Mrs. Gill expand her empire! So if you aren’t already following her on social media, make sure that you do so that you can have a front row seat at her next event.
